The year is now more than ¼ of the way over. I know I probably say this every month, but I can’t believe how fast this year is going by. It feels like just last week we were opening up Christmas presents and now Easter has already come and gone.
My online passive income earnings for March don’t look much different than what the past months looked like. My passive income is definitely not increasing at the speed I would like it to, but I am getting more and more work done. I’m hoping that in the next month or two the work I am doing now will start to make me some m
ore money.
My Keyword Academy case study has finally given me the motivation to get another niche website up and running and start working more on my websites than other projects. Another huge motivator for me to get my niche websites up and running was the whole eHow transition to Demand Studios. If you aren’t aware, the eHow WCP program was basically shut down and now if you want to continue to write residual income articles you have to do it through Demand Studios. I was preapproved to write for Demand Studios but I don’t see myself writing for them anytime soon. I don’t like the fact that they own my articles and I have to report to editors again. I used to be able to write an eHow article in about 20 minutes and now they will probably take twice as long so it definitely not worth the money.
The great part about creating my own niche websites and not simply writing for content websites is that I own all my work and I don’t have to worry about the website shutting down. Think about how many websites that have come and gone and I don’t want to have to worry about losing that money if the website shuts down. (I will continue to earn on my eHow articles that are already posted, but I can’t add anymore through eHow). Another thing about creating my own niche websites that is very appealing to me is that if for some reason my Adsense account gets banned or I get kicked out of an affiliate program there are plenty of other ways that I can monetize my website. There are so many different affiliate programs and ad programs that I don’t have to worry about how to monetize but just focus on driving traffic.
Anyways, now that I have explained why I will be concentrating more on my niche websites than anything else (I probably should have been doing this from the beginning), let’s get to my passive income earnings for March.
Content sites (eHow, Suite 101, Associated Content): $255.89
Last Month: $218.18
Difference: $37.71
Affiliate Commissions and Adsense: $38.35
Last Month: $32.36
Difference: $5.99
Total Passive Income Earnings: $294.24
Total Last Month: $250.54
Difference: $43.70
(Per day average in Feb was $8.95 and March was $9.49)
The thing that I got excited about when it comes to my March passive income earnings that I am nearing $10 a day in passive income. Now, for most people that doesn’t seem like that much, but it’s a first milestone for me. Once I reach $10 a day in passive income (which by the way is an extra $3650 a year), my next milestone is at $25 a day (an extra $9125 a year).
As I once again analyze my goals for my online passive income, I just don’t think my goal of making $1200 a month in passive income by the end of June is possible. It would take a miracle for me to jump from about $300 a month in March to $1200 in June. So, that being said I have decided to re-set my goals for now. I am cutting my first goal in half to make it more achievable.
So, my new goal is to make $600 in online passive income by June. That gives me 3 months to double what I am making now, which I believe that I can do. Once June comes I will then re-analyze my year end goal to see if I should re-set it or leave it as it is. I am thinking I will leave it as it is to motivate me to work even harder after summer is over this year.
So, what did your online passive income look like in March? Are you coming close to meeting some of your milestones or goals yet?

Good job on your forward progress! I do not have any income goals at the time but am focusing on posting a certain number of articles at Suite, posting regularly on my blog, getting aweber set up, creating information products, etc. I enjoy this type of writing/work so much more than writing for clients.
That’s not a bad effort. Earning passive income is a great idea, but I sometimes wonder how passive it really is seeing that if you don’t maintain a presence on the net it will dwindle over time?
BTW, it would be a good idea to install a reply to comment plugin so people can be notified of any replies.
Jean – Yep, being in control of your own work is so much better than having to deal with clients. Good luck!
Sire – There are definitely passive income streams that are not competely passive. If I can take a month off from work or only have to work 5-10 hours a month and still make decent money then to me that is passive income. When I talk about passive income I compare it to having a job and having to work even though you don’t want to. With this type of income if I want to take a week off, I can and not have to report to anybody or move my schedule around. Although this may not be the exact definition of passive income it is my definition for now. LOL
Also, I took your advice and just installed a comment follow up plugin. Thanks for the good idea!
Its always good to set yourself some reachable targets. But how much work are putting in are you getting good returns for all the hard work?
Hi I just came across your site from Noteworthy tips, and I have been using AC for about 3 years now. My passive income is only $45-$110 every month which is pretty good. It will help to pay for some of my Niche sites.
Have you tried the Revenue sharing through Demand Studios?
-Kelly
Hi Kelly!
I haven’t tried the revenue sharing through Demand studios yet. I am trying to get away from content sites and really concentrate on my niche websites. I am glad that I do have a decent amount of money coming from those revenue sharing sites so I can afford to pay for software and my hosting and domains. Good luck on your niche sites.
Tiffany,
My online income for March was close to your earnings, but you did beat me by a bit. I made about $255. I have just entered a venture that will combine my online passive income with some offline activities. I recently built a website for a friend of mine who was unable to pay, so she offered me a percentage of the revenue her website would generate for her business.
It seems that people still don’t grasp the marketing power of the internet. I will be earning 10% lifetime residuals on all of the clients that I am able to send this person. Not bad, just for a little backlinking.
I guess the point of this story is to think outside the box occasionally.
Wow George that’s really cool that you set up that deal with your friend for the percentage of revenue, especially if all you had to do was some backlinking and will be banking on it for life. Passive income is pretty nice huh?
Good luck with your earnings and it would be interesting to compare your results with mine again to see how well I can keep up with you! LOL
Yeah we just spent all day the other day shooting photos for the purpose of selling them on microstock sites. We will be splitting that one 50/50. I really hope that pans out.
As for earnings, I think you are going to crush me this month.
Hi Tiffany,
I, too, was a bit upset by the decision to transfer eHow to Demand Studios. However, I am also a writer at Demand Studios and use it to supplement my income on occasion. I prefer private clients, though.
Another promising program, similar to eHow, is InfoBarrel. The best part about InfoBarrel is that you earn 75% of all advertising revenue – up to 90% when they are running their monthly contests. So your earning potential there may even be greater than eHow.
I have heard quite a few things about Infobarrel as well. I think once I start getting some more of my niche sites up and running I may look into them further. The nice thing about Infobarrel is that I can use it for backlinks to my sites and earn Adsense from the articles as well.
